How has the history of U.S. immigration shaped the current landscape of healthcare for immigrants and farmworkers? What are the policy implications to mitigate healthcare disparities? How can we address the intersectionality of challenges faced by immigrants including issues of legal status, race, and gender with healthcare access? Explore the Bay Area with us through engaging with clinics, non-profits, and grassroot organizations that aim to improve healthcare access and social determinants of health and listen to case studies and firsthand experiences from immigrant and farmworker communities. We are excited to learn about creating an equitable healthcare system for all!

Anita Taft

Anita Taft ‘24 is a senior majoring in Human Biology with a concentration in Reproductive Medicine and Justice. She volunteers with the Cardinal Free Clinics and Stanford Vaccine Crew, and hopes to continue engaging with historically marginalized communities. She enjoys podcasting about medical ethics, reading poetry, and playing with four-legged friends!

Elizabeth Palafox

Elizabeth Palafox ‘24 is a coterm student studying Chemistry and Bioengineering. Blending science with social justice, she volunteers with the Cardinal Free Clinics and has learned about the health disparities immigrant communities face. In her free time, she enjoys sitting in the sun, listening to Taylor Swift, and being outside!
